GAA in English schools? Hear about St. Pauls!
KS Education Ireland are proud to represent some of the best schools in London. Working with the best means we’ll get what we want for you, our teachers. And what is that I hear you ask? Most of all, it’s that you are supported in a school. We also want you to teach in a school with good behaviour and with other nice teachers to hang out with at the weekend for a ‘couple a pints!’ It’s not too much to ask is it? Moving to England with us means you’ll be in an area with others in the same boat. At the end of the day KS Education is all about taking the pressure off and making sure YOU are happy and settled when you move! After all, us Irish need to stand ‘shoulder to shoulder’, don’t we?
St Paul’s Academy is one of our great schools. It’s an ‘Outstanding Catholic School’ based in Greenwich in South London. Our Irish teachers there only teach up to Junior Cert level, and this helps you settle in in the first year! Results at St. Paul’s are well above average, and 72% of the students achieved A* – C last year!!
What makes St. Paul’s totally unique and ‘Irish’ is that they play Gaelic football! “Gabh mo leithscéal?” I hear you say!! These guys are one in a million! For the last ten years, boys from St Paul’s have represented South London in the Feile Peil na nÓg competition in Ireland. Over the last few years, South London have won four All-Ireland titles! The girls from the school also take part in an annual Gaelic Football tour to Ireland! Principal Pat also has roots in Co. Roscommon and makes regular trips to Ireland to see all his clan!
In the last two years, St Paul’s Academy have worked very closely with us and have recruited almost 20 KS Education teachers from Ireland. If you end up teaching here, you’ll feel right at home and be part of a growing clan of ‘South London Irish’! But don’t take our word for it. Hear what the staff of St Paul’s have to say:
“KS Education has supplied us with top quality Irish teachers, and with 90+ teachers within the Academy, over 50 of them come from Ireland. We look forward to welcoming more excellent Irish staff onto our team for September 2017.”
-Patrick Winston, Headteacher
“St. Paul’s feels like a home away from home with all the Irish teachers here. It’s a very supportive and welcoming school with great opportunities for new teachers and I would really recommend it for any Irish teachers!”
–Triona Kellegher, UL Science Graduate.
Triona is now in her 2nd year of teaching at St. Paul’s and is a Science teacher and NQT Mentor there!
